Sandra Bahhur was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1963. At the age of 16, her family moved back to her father's hometown of Ramallah, in the Middle East.

Coming from Middle Eastern descent, Sandra was exposed to the cuisine of that part of the world at a young age. She enjoyed preparing all sorts of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes and understood the wonderful and powerful relationship of food with people, their character and traditions. While living in the Middle East, she attended school and obtained her bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Jerusalem.

In 1989, Sandra returned to the U.S. and relocated in Miami with her family. There, she continued to pursue her passion for cooking and learned about Latin American and Cuban cuisine.

She attended Johnson and Wales University Culinary School in North Miami to further perfect her craft. At the same time, she worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital.

In 1995, Sandra came to New Orleans to work as a nurse at Tulane Hospital and she also started a small catering business on the side. Her menu included a large variety of dishes from the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Latin cuisine. She also excels in the preparation of traditional New Orleans dishes. Fabulous taste, freshness, originality and beautiful presentation characterize her food.

Sandra's knowledge and experience as a nurse give her the ability to implement wholesome and balanced dietary norms to her extensive menu.

Sandra opened Café Arabesque, a quaint, small restaurant at 211 La Salle St. across the street from Tulane Hospital. This fulfilled her life-long dream of opening her own business. She offers a variety of delicious pressed sandwiches, salads, a different lunch special every day, many other wonderful dishes and an extensive catering menu.
